Celebrate the launch of a new mural!
Join us to celebrate the public mural created by participants in the inaugural Moorditj Mural Masters mentorship program. Hear from the artists and mentor about their work and inspirations, as well as a set by a young singer-songwriter.
Over the course of this 3-day workshop, facilitated and mentored by Whadjuk/Ballardong Noongar and Eastern Arrente artist Jade Dolman, participants learnt about designing, creating and painting murals in public places.
This mentorship is supported by the City of Vincent and the Valuing Children Initiative.

About Jade Dolman
Jade Dolman is a Whadjuk/Balladong Nyoongar (Mother's side), Eastern Arrernte (Father's side) woman from Perth. She is a visual artist and remains connected to her culture through painting and family. She has a passion for making a change through art for Indigenous and non-Indigenous people. Her purpose is to highlight that all land is traditional country which our ancestors have practiced culture on for thousands of years. Her murals and public art are a contemporary continuation of traditional culture.
J.D. Penangke was officially started in 2014. In December 2017 she graduated from the University of Western Australia. Her degree is a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Indigenous Knowledge, History & Heritage and Fine Arts. Jade has had and continues to be involved with young people. She has mentored for Wirrpanda Foundation, Save the Children, Nyoongar Wellbeing & Sports Association and Department of Child Protection. She graduated from an Aboriginal women's leadership program, Yorga Djenna Bidi in 2016 which was erected by Leadership WA now run by Western Australian Aboriginal Leadership Institute. Through Jade's business she has been involved with over 80 schools in Western Australia including childcare centres, primary, secondary and tertiary institutions. Two career highlights include her collaboration with Adnate and her collaboration with Brenton See.
Jade is very passionate about her previous work with the community and feels privileged to share her knowledge and to encourage conversations around current issues Aboriginal people face as well the next step forward.
About the Youth Week WA KickstART Festival
Presented by Propel Youth Arts WA, the KickstART Festival has been the flagship event of Youth Week WA for 12 years running. KickstART offers over 60 free events - including workshops, talks, performances, mentorships, exhibitions, markets, and other special events - between 8 - 16 April, for young people aged 12-26.
Due to growing concerns about COVID-19 and the anticipated continued spread of Omicron across our communities in Boorloo (Perth) and WA, the Propel team has decided to pivot towards digital and hybrid formats for the delivery of the KickstART Festival this April.
The Youth Week WA KickstART Festival 2022 is presented by Propel Youth Arts WA and is funded by the Government of Western Australia through the Department of Communities and the Department of Local Government, Sport and Cultural Industries. KickstART is also supported by Lotterywest, the City of Perth, the City of Stirling, the City of Fremantle, and the City of Vincent.
